Meet your neighbor and Illini West Senior Morgan Weirather of Carthage.
Morgan is the daughter of Marla and Darin Weirather. Dad Darin is the Energy Operations Manager at West Central FS and Mom Marla works as a dental assistant at Dr. Max Rodeffer’s office in Hamilton.
Morgan is the younger of two children. Her older sister Andrea, 26 graduated from Carthage High School in 2004 and Western Illinois University in 2008. Andrea is a kindergarten teacher at Pittsfield.
Morgan is the granddaughter of Violet Perry and Jerry and Judy Wells and Norman Weirather.
She has been very active during her high school career. She has been involved with Student Council, National Honors Society, International Club, LOOP Team, Junior Chamber of Commerce, Key Club, SADD, FFA, Youth Leadership Academy, Cheerleading, Dance Team, Flag Squad, Volleyball and band.
Her most memorable moments of high school so far have been all of her prom experiences (going as an underclassmen and helping plan her Junior year).
Morgan has been on the High Honor Roll with a 4.0 GPA all four years of high school so far. She was named "Charger of the Month" her Junior year, and she is Cheerleading Captain this year as well as last year.
She has been named an Illinois State Scholar, and she is Student Council Vice President.
Morgan was McDonough Telephone Representative for Youth to Washington D.C..
Morgan took her first trip out of the United States to Mexico this last year and stayed at the Now Sapphire all inclusive resort. She also went to New York City and performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Her hobbies include cheering, dancing, babysitting, reading, tanning, shopping and Zumba.
While she admits her plans after high school change all the time, for right now she plans on attending the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and obtain a degree in communications or business.
She would possibly further her education with an MBA or Law Degree.
