Meet your neighbor and Illini West Senior, Emily Gold of Dallas City.
Emily was born on May 16, 1996 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She lived in Omaha, Nebraska until she was 6 and then the family moved to Dallas City.
She is the daughter of Jason and Michelle Gold. Jason is a guard at the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison, Iowa and Michelle is a dispatcher for the Hancock County Sheriff's office in Carthage.
She has a brother, Alex Gold, who graduated from Illini West in May of 2012. Alex is attending college at the University of Missouri in Columbia.
Emily is the granddaughter of Larry Clark, a retired heavy equipment operator who lives in Dallas City;
Diane Thimmesch, who works at Great River Medical Center and lives in Wever, IA;
Grandpa Mike Thimmesh, who also works at Great River Medical Center and lives in Wever, IA;
Grandma Deb Moughler is retired and lives in DeWitt, Iowa; and
Grandpa Grant Gold is a retired police officer and lives in Boone, IA.
Emily is very involved in school activities, besides doing her co-op job at Wear Drug in Carthage. She is involved in Student Council, National Honors Society (secretary), she is a Class Officer, and is in SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions).
Emily was in band her freshman thru junior years, and she played volleyball her freshman thru junior year. Freshman year Emily got to go to Disneyland in Florida with the band.
One of her favorite memories is when her seventh grade volleyball team went to state, she enjoyed almost every aspect of the moment and getting first place was awesome, she said.
Emily will be graduating from Illini West High School in May of 2014 and plans to attend college to be a pharmacist, although she hasn't decided on which college.
