We've shore had a liberal dose of cold weather already. I'm a hope'n ever one with diesel engines has lighter fuel in place or a liberal dose of anti-gel to add to ya tank. Otherwise ya might be a chore'n with your old gas tractor or afoot.
National Debt
We often hear from the news about our national debt. Some of those figures at times is hard to understand. Let me try to help ya understand it a little bit better.
A thousand is a one with three zeros after it. 1,000
A million is a thousand times bigger than that and it's a one with six zeros after it. 1,000,000
A billion then is a thousand times bigger than a million, and it's a one followed by 9 zeros. 1,000,000,000
And a trillion is a thousand times bigger than that, and it's a one followed by 12 zeros. 1,000,000,000,000
So a trillion is a thousand billions, which means it is a million millions.
Now suppose you had a stack of thousand dollar bills that is four inches in height...Congratulations, you'd be a millionaire.
A billion dollars...a stack of thousand dollar bills would be 358 feet high...
A trillion dollars...a stack of thousand dollar bills...67.9 miles high...
A trillion is a 1000 billions...
Our government debt at 17.2 trillion, placed into a stack of $1000 dollar bills, would reach a height of 1154.3 miles...
Now then, does that make ya feel any better about our national debt? I'm a thinkin' it's time to go to the polls and vote.
Destiny
After last week some of you'ns requested more thoughts of wisdom. Ok then, here is some more.
Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
Cancer
More wisdom is a reflection on what cancer cannot do. Cancer is limited.
It cannot cripple love
It cannot shatter hope
It cannot corrode faith
It cannot destroy peace
It cannot kill friendship
It cannot suppress memories
It cannot silence courage
It cannot invade the soul
It cannot steal eternal life
It cannot conquer the spirit
While all this can be said about cancer, the same can be said about other diseases and sicknesses as well. That is if'n ya refuses to allow it.
Adoption
That feller at 92 kinda said it all.
In an old one-room school Mrs. Carrie's first graders were discuss'n a picture of a family. One little feller in the picture had a different hair color than the other family members. One of Miss Carrie's students avowed that he was aware because he knew the family that the little feller was adopted.
A little girl raised her hand and spoke up that she knew all about adoption, fer she was adopted.
Another classmate asked, "What does it mean to be adopted?"
The little girl responded, "It means that ya grow in your mommy's heart instead of her tummy."
Well, how do ya like that wisdom come'n from a small child?
Luvs, Huggies, and Depends
And finally, do ya know the reason baby diapers have brand names such as "Luvs" and "Huggies," while undergarments fer older folk are called "Depends".
Let me explain: when babies dirty their pants, folks are still gonna Luv'em and Hug'em.
However, when older folks fill their pants, it "Depends" on who's in the will.
Aren't ya glad we got that straightened out.
