What Did the Railroad Offer?

I attended the meeting last Tuesday concerning closing the Broadway Crossing in Stronghurst. The Railroad only offered $25,000 and suggested that the Illinois Commerce Commission would throw in an additional $70,000 and maybe, just maybe, the Illinois Department of Transportation would add to the money pot. Is this "spinning the numbers?"

I think so! The State of Illinois is broke and to indicate that additional money might be forthcoming is definitely wishful thinking.

As the show of hands against the closing indicated, the people of the village and surrounding area know how vital this crossing is to the life blood of the community
