Martin Sparrow of Dallas City, along with Beryl Sparrow, Lomax, Marc Sparrow and Donald Scanlan, Dallas City, and Lloyd Sparrow from Ocala, Fl. toured the Caterpillar plants and the new Caterpillar Visitors Center with the Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club.
Lloyd surprised everyone by meeting the group in Peoria. They attended a welcome reception on April 18th with the ACMOC Club Members. On April 19th the group toured the Caterpillar plants. After lunch at the Caterpillar Edwards Demonstration and Learning Center, they toured the Virtual Training Simulator Lab that enable hands on skills of the numerous equipment pieces that Caterpillar has. They demonstrated 34 pieces of equipment in 1 1/2 hours.
The demonstration ending with a D11 Dozer with Ripper operated by remote control, the operator was walking around with the group in the viewing area. FCC The group continued to the Caterpillar Visitors Center for a private tour. The visitors center opened in October 2012 and since then they have had over 60,000 visitors.
They finished with a dinner reception with Doug Oberman, Caterpillar Chairman and CEO as the special guest speaker. Beryl Sparrow received a Caterpillar VIP cap from Tricia Pearson, club manager, who shared a birthday in common with Beryl.
