Well, the waiting is over and this past Monday, January 23rd turned out to be another special day in my life as my youngest in the family, Matthew Rodeffer and his wife Katie, had their first child, giving Michael and I our 21st grandchild.
They live in Leo, Indiana, a suburb of Fort Wayne and are the proud parents of a 9 lb. 1 oz. boy, 22 inches long who has been named Elijah Matthew.
There was so much commotion as we all communicated with aunts and uncles from Tulsa to Colorado and right here around Stronghurst and Carthage.
Heather's saying yipee, Aunt Joyce was hoping they would have twins, trying to pick a bunch of crazy names to give them.
The waiting seemed forever as she went into the hospital at 5 a.m. and Elijah finally came C-section at 10:48 p.m.
Nothing like a new baby to recall those special moments our babies were born.
It's a most exciting time when such a perfect work of art is made known to us.
Aunt Tami can't wait to hold him and is wondering when we are going, and Aunt Erica is hoping we can find a gathering place soon where we can all meet and get acquainted, hopefully at Grandessa's house.
I am hoping Matthew and Katie will be adventuresome enough to drive 7 hours with a new baby sometime in May, when Ali graduates at West Central.
I am also excited that Matthew Ericson, our oldest grandson who belongs to Darci and Dan, has just been accepted into Moody Bible College in Chicago.
For a side note: yes we will be looking for a ball glove for Elijah as soon as we find out if he is right handed or left handed, ummm or maybe I should buy one for both.
A switch pitcher would make Grandpa and the guys happy.
