Lomax Country Days

September 21 & 22, 2012

Due to scheduling error, Lomax Heritage Trail activities will occur September 21st and 22nd, the weekend before the Henderson County Heritage Trail. The Lomax Heritage Trail Committee is sorry for any inconveniences this may cause to visitors. All activities are help in the Lomax Park unless otherwise noted.

On Friday, September 21, the 2nd Annual Lomax Country Days' Talent Show will happen! Captives Set Free Christian Rock Band starts the evening's activities at 6 p.m. If the weather is nice, the band will perform outside; individuals may want to bring lawn chairs to sit in. The concession stand will open at 4 p.m. Tressa Pence will be operating the concession stand - many people have sampled some of her delicious food at the Lomax Farmer's Markets on Wednesday evenings! At 7:30 p.m., the Talent Show will begin. The Talent Show is open to all ages. Cash prizes will be awarded. Talent Show contestants will need to register at least 15 minutes before the beginning of the Talent Show. The Lomax Heritage Trail Committee will also be having a 50/50 raffle.

Saturday's activities begin at 7 a.m. with the Lomax Fire Department serving breakfast at the fire station. Food, craft, and flea market vendors will be setup in the park by 9 a.m. At 10 a.m. the Air-Evac helicopter will land in the park. The Lomax Ambulance Service also plans to have the ambulance in the park for kids to check out and they will also perform blood pressure checks for interested individuals.

The Dallas City Cub Scout Pack 51 will be having their 3rd annual fish fry, with food served in the park shelter. The women from the Lomax Christian Church have walking tacos and sweet treats to purchase. There will be other vendors selling food as well.

At 12:30 parade lineup begins near the Lomax Christian Church, 1015 Romick. Parade starts at 1 p.m. being led by the American Legion Post 297 from Dallas City. The Dallas City Junior High Band plans to participate again this year! After the parade ends, the American Legion will do a salute to area veterans.

The bounce house will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Kids games will follow after the parade with a hay scramble (weather permitting), bubble-gum blowing contest, face painting, and other games. Maybe even a pi–ata!

To finish the activities at the park, the Lomax Heritage Trail Committee is trying to secure a band to play from 2-4 p.m. Pack your dancing shoes and lawn chairs in your vehicle!

Roger's Pumpkin Farm will have activities both weekends. There will be fall harvest displays, hayrides, teepee town, corn maze and other family activities. Bring your camera, great background for pictures!
