The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
It's that time of the year...Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venture Scouts and Explorers are knocking on doors and setting up sales tables at many stores to sell popcorn! Did you know that their popcorn sales include the option for you to purchase popcorn for our troops overseas and at home?
The Boy Scouts of America have been promoting popcorn sales as a fund-raiser for units and a thrifty way for scouts to earn their own way to camp for at least 40 years! Today, hundreds of thousands of scouts throughout the U.S.A. are not only selling for their own needs, but are taking donations daily for popcorn to be sent to our soldiers, sailors and airmen overseas. As of last year, over $32 million in popcorn has been shipped to our troops thanks to the extra efforts of Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts throughout the country. Our local scouts are taking on the national challenge to make a soldier's day a little special with a popcorn delivery. Scouts need your help to make this happen!
When that boy in a blue scout shirt or a young man in a khaki scout shirt comes knocking at your door, please think about how you can team up with the scouts to do something special for our troops. Whether you buy popcorn for yourself or not, you can make a difference by "making a donation" for popcorn for the troops! In Stronghurst, leave your cash donation (please include your name) with Bobbi Tapscott at Oakwood Assisted Living Center in Stronghurst or with Craig Carnes at Flatt's Implement Repair in Stronghurst. All scouts throughout Henderson County are participating in the popcorn sales project this month. If you live outside of Stronghurst, you can call Donna Buss 309-924-1640 and she will get your information to a scout or leader from your own neighborhood-regardless of where you live in the county.
The scouts and our military Troops will thank you!
