Meet your neighbors Jesse and Laura (Pence) Kasterke of Clinton, Iowa formerly of Dallas City.
Jesse was born in Cherokee, Oklahoma and came to Dallas City when he was 13 years old. Laura was born and raised in Lomax.
Jesse graduated from Dallas City High School and Laura graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Nauvoo.
Jesse is the son of William and Stella Kasterke. Laura is the daughter of Leroy and Dora Pence.
Jesse and Laura have been married for 66 years and have two boys. Steven is retired and Byron works for Krieger's in DeWitt, Iowa.
The couple have four grandchildren-Dale, Michelle, Zachary and Kindsey. They also have 4 great grandchildren.
Jesse worked for the Santa Fe Railroad in Fort Madison, IA, for 15 years and for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 29 years before retiring. Laura worked for the Winegard Company in Burlington, IA, and for the International Paper Company in Clinton, IA, for 24 years before retiring.
Laura and Jesse lived in Dallas City when they left and moved to Clinton, IA, in 1958.
Jesse was in the Navy during World War II and Laura worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant.
They both belong to the Moose and Auxiliary, the National Retired Railroad Employees Amvets and the American Legion.
Laura also belongs to Rebecca's and Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.
Jesse enjoys woodworking, gardening and fishing. Laura likes to help people and family. She also loves to embroider and bake.
