Stronghurst Quasquicentennial--Truth or Rumor!

Over the course of the next several weeks I would like to stay tuned to this writer, (who wished to remain unknown for obvious reasons I can't write,); I attempt to make distinction between truth and rumor regarding events being planned for the 125th year anniversary of the founding of Stronghurst.

Rumor- The Friday night Kiddy Barrel Rides will also consist of a beauty contest between members of town council wearing only a barrel and red suspenders and judged by the oldest member of the Stronghurst Fire Department who just recently had a three speed pacemaker installed by a volunteer fireman.

Truth- As of this day the official schedule only list Kiddy Barrel Rides on Friday the 29th of June beginning at 4 p.m. in the park.

Rumor- The self-named Foxy men of On-Broadway Cafe has officially challenged the much renowned Foxy ladies to a 3 mile run on Saturday morning, with the winner reachieving an invitation to tryout for the America has talent TV SHOW.

Truth- As of this day not one man from the On-Broadway coffee club has entered the Fun Run, however you still have time to enter the 1 or the 3 mile race, you may pick up race information and entry forms at On Broadway Cafe. Race Day is Saturday Morning, June 30th, at the park beginning at 8:30.

Rumor- Sometime during the dunk tank 11 a.m. on the 30th of June at the park that Co-chair Linda Clifton and Sarah Nimrick will appear in yellow polka dot bikinis challenging the accuracy of the arms of fellow committee members.

Truth- Stay tuned, if enough people would request this we could possibly make this happen.

Rumor- Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon might actually make a special appearance at this year's talent show on Friday the 29th of June at 7 p.m. at the park.

Truth- It is quite possible that these two wonderful performers from day's past could pull their act together. Stay tuned, maybe if enough people request it we could make it happen. Contact Rachel Bundy if you would like to see this happen and if you have a talent you would like to display. Heck with America Has Talent, let's show the world that Stronghurst has talent galore.

Rumor- That one float on the parade Saturday will not only have a world famous German band playing traditional old world German tunes, but will reenact the infamous Battle of the Bulge in front of viewing stand, live ammunition will not be used, however we are hoping that the spectators will be plentiful and lively.

Truth- The truth is there will be a parade Saturday at 2 p.m. on the 30th of June, there will among many other floats be a German Band. Contact Jerry Keimig at the Bank of Stronghurst if you would like to enter a float. Jerry said recently that he expected this year's parade to be somewhere the size of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, knowing Jerry and his ability to organize, this could be true.

Stay tuned for more Truth or Rumor next week, if you have an questions about and Rumors or Truth you might hear over the next several weeks, please notify Jen Notestein who has been designated as Chief Humorist and Storyteller for the 125th celebration.
