Lou Ann Nortrup, village clerk announced at the regular Village of Stronghurst board meeting on Monday, January 2, the following winners for the Christmas lighting contest.
1st place: Chuck & Doris Vaughn; 2nd place: Albert & Diane Renken; 3rd place: Mike & Wendy Corzatt.
Ronnie Gittings reported that contracts for the test well drilling project have been prepared and sent to Bassham Well Drilling, who will sign and return them to the village soon.
Bassham is in the process of obtaining permits from the local health department for the test well. Authorization for the test well has been granted by the IEPA.
It is expected that the 3rd or 4th week in January that Bassham should begin on the work. They have requested a temporary culvert to cross the roadway ditch at the well location, as well as take down a portion of the fencing.
However, Gittings said he thinks it would be more feasible to use the existing entry of the fair grounds until they see where the exact well is going to be.
Trustee Brendan Schaley gave the following police report for the month of December.

They also had 7 service calls and assisted other agencies 4 times, as well as courtesy checks on 12 businesses.
The board is currently looking into hiring one more part time deputy. Michael Bohnenkamp, said they will continue to do the scheduling, as it seems to be working, and not hire another police chief.

The next regular board meeting will be held on February 6, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.
