Meet Your Neighbor

Meet Your Neighbor Sarah Bigger of rural Biggsville.

Sarah has been employed by Bi-County Insurance for the past 11 years. She previously was employed at Fisher Foods in Oquawka.

She was born in Monmouth and raised in the Biggsville area.

In 1996 Sarah graduated from Union High School and attended Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa.

In 2005 she received her insurance agent's license.

She and hubby Phillip have been married for 12 years. Phillip is employed as a lock man at Lock and Dam #17 at New Boston for the Corp of Engineers.

Her parents are Bill and Jeanne Seitz who live at rural Gladstone.

She has two brothers, Mike who lives in Gladstone and Matt (Holly) who lives at rural Biggsville where both brothers help their dad farm and join him in the family trucking business. Matt's wife, Holly, is a nurse at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.

Sarah has a twin sister, Stephanie (Jason) Carnes who lives in rural Biggsville. Jason is a farmer and Stephanie is a history teacher at Burlington High School in Burlington, Iowa.

She has a step-son, Austin (17), who is a senior at West Central High School. She and Phillip have two sons. Nathan (10), in the 4th grade at West Central and Bryce (7) a first grade student at West Central.

She is a member of the Biggsville United Presbyterian Church.

Her hobbies are volleyball coaching. This is her first year as coach of the West Central Junior High and High School. She also enjoys attending her children's activities. She said, "I read for relaxation!"

She has enjoyed family vacations with her parents, siblings and children. They usually travel to theme parks such as Adventureland or Six Flags.

When asked what she enjoyed about coaching volleyball she said, "Teaching the fundamentals. As beginners they have no concept of what to do but as soon as they get it I can tell. It is like a light bulb goes off."
