The La Harpe City Council met on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 7:00pm at the La Harpe City Hall. All council members were present.
Engineer for the city Eric Moe was present to tell the council that it will cost $350 per day to televised the sewer project but it will be paid for by the Illinois Rural Water Association. The storm sewer on Park Lane will also be telelvised.
The curb in front of Banks and Beals Funeral home needs repaired as soon as possible. The rebar is sticking out of the concrete. The bid came in at $400. There is also a bid to replace the street signs in town at $5696. This is eligible to be paid for with Motor Fuel Tax money.
The city has been awarded a $440,482 grant for single family housing rehabilitation. Public hearings for this will begin in December and construction will possibly begin in January. These are tentative dates more information will come in the months to follow.
The $400,000 grant that the city applied for is still pending. We haven't been denied or approved.
City Wide Clean Up will be Friday, October 19th, 2012.
The city council used to have a program for junior council members from the high school. The council is looking into revitalizing this program for this school year.
