The La Harpe School Board held a regular meeting on July 19, 2011 in the district library.
In addition to regularly recurring business items, the board reviewed a monthly project update on the Health Life Safety renovation project, walked through to view the renovation in its various stages, approved internet use and district wellness policies, set the budget hearing for September 20, 2011 at 7:15 p.m. and approved student and teacher handbooks.
The board approved A. J. Huston as head coach for junior high boys basketball, hired Bob Dowell as paraprofessional, hired Rhonda Adcock to be trained as assistant head cook, approved Matt Miller as a sub bus driver, hired Aaron Baker as custodian, and approved the new salary schedule for classified personnel.
The La Harpe School Board held a special meeting on August 9, 2011 in the district library. Regarding the renovation project, the board accepted the flooring bid from Moore's Flooring of Quincy, tabled action on the demolition bids for the 1928 building, and set the minimum starting salary for bookkeeper at $34,000.

In addition to regular monthly business items, the board received a renovation project update and walked though to view current project progress, heard 2011-12 class size and enrollment projections and saw ISAT data analysis from the prior school year.
The board accepted the preliminary budget for fiscal year 2012, adopted the resolution regarding school construction grant application process, and rejected all bids submitted for project #14 demolition of the 1928 building.
The board also approved coaching recommendations for 5th-6th athletics submitted by Dallas ESD #327 and accepted with regrets the resignations submitted by J.C. and Karen Nudd. J.C. Nudd is retiring from his custodial position of 20 years and Karen from 30 years as district bookkeeper.

The board took action to employ Laura Claassen for the position of school district bookkeeper and to provide a $1,000 bookkeeping consultant stipend to Karen Nudd for the remainder of fiscal year 2012.

In addition to regular monthly business items, the board received a project update and walked through the renovation areas to view the progress, held the fiscal year 2012 budget hearing and adopted the budget.
The board approved the annual application for recognition of schools and district policy updates, accepted with regrets the resignation submitted by Bonnie Yocum, employed Lee Unger as paraprofessional, approved Greg Little as a substitute paraprofessional and Nicole Anderson as a sub cook, approved superintendent goals for FY2012, and approved a bookkeeper retirement benefit for Karen Nudd.
