Meet Your Neighbor Cindy Seibert, a new staff member at West Central High School who lives in Burlington, Iowa.
She started at West Central in August of this year where she teaches chemistry, physics and earth science.
Previously she was employed, part-time for 5 years, by Stanley Consultants, as an engineer.
She was born in Waterloo, Iowa and raised in different areas.
In 1977 she graduated from Nora Springs-Rock Falls Iowa High School and continued her education at Iowa State University, in Ames, earning a bachelor's degree in Civil engineering in 1981 and received her master's from the University of Illinois in Environmental Engineering, in 1988, with endorsements for teaching through Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa in 2011.
For 22 years she has been married to hubby, Tim. Tim is employed at Carl A. Nelson Company in Burlington, Iowa.
Her father is deceased and her mom, Bev Wedeking, lives in Nora Springs, Iowa.
She has two sisters, Tammy of Lake Mills, Iowa and Hesse.
Tim and Cindy have two daughters, Julie a junior at the University of Northern Iowa majoring in music education, and Amy a senior at Burlington Iowa High School.
She is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Burlington, Iowa where she has participated in bell choir for 5 years and teaches Sunday school.
For her hobbies she loves to travel, bicycle, and cross country ski. Before moving to Iowa Cindy lived in Colorado where she also enjoyed cross country skiing. She said, "I especially love outdoor activities."
Cindy said that a very memorable vacation was when she went to Gimmewald, Switzerland and hiked in the rain! A very memorable vacation indeed!
She is a member the National Science Teachers Association and the Burlington High School Music Boosters.
