Meet Your Neighbor

by Christy Kienast-The Quill

Meet your neighbor Michelle (Shallenberger) Brown of La Harpe.

Michelle was born in Macomb and lived there until she was one. She then moved to La Harpe with her grandparents, John and Betty Shallenberger and lived with them all through school.

Michelle graduated from La Harpe High School in 2004 and currently is attending Southeastern Community College for nursing. She is employed at Great River Medical Center as a C.N.A. She is also an EMT-B with the La Harpe Ambulance.

Michelle's grandpa, John, still lives in La Harpe and is retired from working construction. He keeps himself busy by riding his scooter, going to Ayerco for coffee and visiting family.

Her children Logan and Kylie like to call him "Papa John". Michelle's family is also very close to her Aunt Jana Finley and her family, who also live in La Harpe. Jana has three daughters Ashley, Brittni and Bradee and one grandson, Jackson, who is only 5 days older than Michelle's son.

Michelle Shallenberger married Brian Brown on September 21, 2008 in Las Vegas.

Thirteen family members and friends were there to help them celebrate this occasion. When they came back they had a reception on October 4. Brian has been employed with BNSF for 6 years as a traveling mechanic.

Michelle and Brian have two children, Logan who just turned 4 on July 16th and daughter, Kylie, who will be two on September 11th.

Michelle's hobbies include shopping, photography and spending time with her family. Although, she says doing homework seems like a hobby right now.

Her favorite memories are the births of her children and watching them grow. "They do and say the funniest things." she says.

Michelle and Brian went on a cruise to the Bahamas for their honeymoon and are looking forward to taking the kids to the Dells and to Disney World in the future for family vacations.
