On Monday, January 3rd La Harpe 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams hosted the Hamilton Cardinals. In the 7th grade contest the Eagles took an easy win with a score of 60 to 9.
Scoring was led by Jacob Douglas with 16 and Donnie Wetterling with 15 points, Kyle Tanner and Spencer Ferguson each had 6 points, Dawson Ryner with 5 points. Alex McCune, Tray Stokke and Jensen Corzatt scored 4 points each in the victory.
In the 8th grade contest the Eagles had no trouble with the Cardinals winning at half time 35 to 8 and going on to win with a score of 56 to 23.
Three players reached double figures Braden Bennett with 12 points, Colton Mellinger and Nate Palmer with 10 points each, Jacob Sholl adding 9 points, Colton Ragain and Kendall Hall with 4 points each, Tucker Anderson added 3 points and Trevor Vorhies and Peyton Porter each adding 2 points each.
On Tuesday, January 4th La Harpe 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams hosted Abingdon on their last regular season home game.
In the 7th grade contest the Eagles took an early half time lead with a score of 18 to 5 then going on to win by a score of 43 to 13.
Leading the scoring was Jacob Douglas with 20 points, Donnie Wetterling and Spencer Ferguson with 6 points each, Dawson Ryner with 5 points, Tray Stokke with 4 points and Alex McCune adding 2 points.
In the 8th grade game it wasn't as easy but the Eagles went on to victory by a score of 47 to 36.
Leading the scoring was Braden Bennett with 19 points, Nate Palmer with 12 points, Colton Mellinger with 11 points and rounding out the score was Jacob Sholl with 3 points and Tucker Anderson with 2 points.
On Thursday, January 6th, the La Harpe 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams traveled to Nauvoo to play the Vikings.
In the 7th grade contest the Eagles came away with a win, once again, with a score of 34 to 19.
Leading all scoring was Donnie Wetterling with 13 points, Kyle Tanner with 9 points, Jensen Corzatt with 4 points. Jacob Douglas, Alex McCune, Spencer Ferguson and Dawson Ryner all with 2 points each.
In the 8th grade contest the Eagles had little trouble with the Vikings by winning 39 to 25.
Leading the scoring was Tucker Anderson, Branden Bennett and Nate Palmer with 6 points each. Jacob Sholl, Colton Ragain and Chance Haes with 4 points each, Peyton Porter adding 3 points and Nick Hopper, Trevor Vorhies, Kendall Hall each adding 2 points.
On Thursday, January 13th, the La Harpe 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams traveled to Stronghurst to take on West Central.
In the 7th grade contest the Eagles came away with a win once again winning 48 to 18.
Leading the scoring was Donnie Wetterling with 10 points, Kyle Tanner and Spencer Ferguson with 9 points each, Jacob Douglas and Jensen Corzatt adding 8 points each and Dawson Ryner with 4 points.
In the 8th grade game the Eagles started out a little slow being behind at halftime by a score of 15 to 23.
In the 3rd quarter the Eagles came out, fired up, with a press and with some layups the Eagles were right back in it scoring 14 points in the 3rd quarter to West Centrals 5 points to lead by a 29-28 score after 3 quarters.
West Central started the 4th quarter with a bucket and a 30-29 West Central lead. But the Eagles scored the next 6 points for a 35 to 30 lead. The Eagles went on to win the contest 42 to 33. Leading the scoring was Braden Bennett with 10 points, Jacob Sholl with 8 points, Peyton Porter with 7 points, Colton Mellinger with 6 points, Nate Palmer adding 5 points,Tucker Anderson adding 4 points and Colton Ragain with 2 points.
Late in the 8th grade game Thursday evening at Stronghurst, the Eagles put out the West Central Heat and swoop in for another win to leave them with only 1 loss. The 7th grade Eagles also won and remain undefeated.
