After a wonderful Independence Day weekend, I think we can all say, there's no place like home. I witnessed fireworks at several places around our community including a family outing at our friends pond complete with potluck, fishing poles, visiting under the sunshine allowing for our own small fireworks display.
Wherever you were on this 4th of July it had to be a great day because you live in America. Whether you celebrated in your community or in your backyard, it is the fact we are free to choose that makes the day great. My editor Shirley Linder's brother, Navy veteran Kenneth Baker, just returned from an Honors Flight sponsored by the Modern Woodman. He was thrilled to experience such a thing where he was treated like royalty. He was honored at the Woodman's convention, put up in a 2,000 room luxury hotel, impressed by the changing of the guard of the unknown soldier, and taken to memorials and walls saluting those who died in battle. He then came home where he was met by family and the feeling that his service was well worth the cost, and as an American, there's just no place like home!
