Tough Decisions

A couple of years ago I was on a committee that helped set out goals, strategies and a motto that we wanted our school board to adopt and follow to make it a "Lighthouse" school in Illinois. The motto we chose for the West Central School District to follow is not always an easy task. It is: PROVIDING OPPORTUNITY, EXPECTING EXCELLENCE.

Although it is easier said then done, I feel strongly that the decisions being made are with that motto in hand. A couple of the strategies we adopted to help obtain this motto include: "

We will recruit and retain quality staff who supports our mission," and "We will provide a diverse curriculum that will develop and support the skills and competence needed for student success, and "We will foster an environment of school spirit, pride, ownership:" I will talk next week a little bit about tough decisions and the direction West Central School Board is taking.
