Oak Wood Bring A Home Feel For Its Residents

by Macy Davis, Quill Reporter

Oak Wood Estates has been open since November of last year and is a supported living facility. They take all forms of insurance, including medicade and private payment.

Staying in the Retirement Village is almost like "staying in a 4 star hotel" only better! They provide almost any amenity required for comfortable living, including three balanced meals and snacks, wireless internet, basic cable TV, personal mail boxes, ect.

The assisted living community is a home away from home designed to help make the transition between the resident's real home and Oak Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center easier.

Both facilities are equipped with 24 hour care by trained employees. When an individual only requires a limited amount of care, they are allowed to live in Oak Wood Estates, the assisted living community located next to the nursing home, but if they need 24 hour care, they are moved to the nursing home.

Oak Lane Nursing Home has continued health care for seniors in the Henderson, Hancock, McDonough, Warren County, and the surrounding area.

They welcome routine visits from the Henderson County Health Department to ensure that the residents receive the best care possible.

In the future, they hope to construct an independent living community in the vicinity. The village will be a collection of apartments where the occupants do everything themselves, but with lawn care and maintenance provided.

Oak Lane and Oak Wood's Public Relations Drive and Open House will be held September 18, from 1-5:00 p.m.

There will be a catfish and chicken lunch provided with entertainment as well. It will be a great opportunity to tour the new area and to just have a good time.
