Meet Your Neighbor

Meet Your Neighbor Brad Flatt of rural Media.

Brad is a grain farmer with a cow/calf operation.

He was born in Monmouth and raised in rural Media.

In 1977 Brad graduated from Southern High School and continued his education at Southeastern Community College in Burlington, Iowa, graduating in 1979.

He and his wife, Rhonda have been married for 12 years.

Brad said, "Rhonda is a self-employed farmer, helping wherever she is needed!"

Brad has a step-son, Travis Vancil (28) who lives at rural Gladstone and is employed by Rheinschmidt's in Burlington, IA.

Chandra (22) his step-daughter, lives in rural Stronghurst and is employed by R.S.C. Rental in Burlington, IA.

Brad keeps very busy not only as a farmer but in February of this year, he bought the Kleine's Equipment business in Stronghurst and it is now Stronghurst Repair LLC. They repair farm, lawn, and garden equipment.

He is also a member of the Stronghurst United Methodist Church and currently President of the Church Council.

Brad is also on the M.S.T. (Media/Stronghurst/Terre Haute) Fire Department serving as Media fire chief; serves on the Biggsville Fire Department as a lieutenant; on the Board of Directors of Riverland F.S. serving on the executive board; Secretary-treasurer of the Henderson County Soil and Water Board of Directors; Stronghurst Lions Club past president.

Brad and Rhonda enjoy getting away in the summer to travel to Chicago to enjoy a couple of Cubs baseball games.

They also are season ticket holders to the Southeastern Community College boys basketball team and have season tickets to 34 Raceways in Burlington, Iowa.

Brad says, "I don't have much spare time but when I do, I enjoy watching football, basketball and baseball on television."

When asked what he enjoys most about farming his reply was, "I love being outside and being self-employed."
