Meet Your Neighbor Deanna Huss of Dallas City.
Deanna is employed by the Henderson County Soil and Water Conservation office in Stronghurst as an Administrative Coordinator.
She was born in Ft. Madison, Iowa, and raised in the Dallas City area.
In 1990 she graduated from Dallas City High School and will soon be receiving her Administrative Assistant Certification from the Penn Foster Institute.
She has three children, Samantha (19) a student at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa, in her first year pursuing a medical assistant degree, Kyle (16) a junior at Illini West and Dayton (14) in the 8th grade at Dallas City.
Her parents are Ron and Jo Kesterke of Dallas City. Ron is retired from the Iowa State Penitentiary in Ft. Madison, Iowa, and Jo is retired from the Ft. Madison, Iowa, Care Center.
She has one brother, Darren (Kim) who lives in Dallas City. Darren is employed by Silgens in Ft. Madison, Iowa, and Kim is a medical assistant for Dr. Roger Nevling in Burlington, Iowa.
She is a member of the Lomax Christian Church.
Deanna enjoys attending her sons sporting events. Kyle plays baseball, football and wrestling while Dayton is involved in track, baseball, plays drums and is presently taking guitar lessons.
Some of her interests are reading, spending time outside either flower or vegetable gardening although she says, "I do not have a green thumb, my brother got that!"
"We almost have a zoo at our house," she said. "We have 2 minipins (Doberman) puppies, 1 Siamese cat," and her daughter recently got a Boxer pup and a ferret.
She loves listening to all spectrums of music and walking.
When asked what she liked most about her job, she said, "I love working with kids. I recently did a safety presentation at the Media preschool and I loved putting that together. Working with kids in the community is great!"
She said, "I receive a lot of support living in a small community."
