A Letter From Hell

The following is not a real letter from Hell as there is no mail service there. However, the message is true.

The word "hell" has been used as an adverb, adjective and a cuss word, and very often over looked as a real place of eternal torment.

"A Letter From Hell"

Before I died, I remember thinking you were a little goofy when you started talking about all that religious stuff; about accepting the free gifts of eternal life, paid for when Jesus Christ died on the cross.

That seemed so far removed from my good life and whenever you talked of Hell for those who did not accept that free gift, I just turned you off.

I've been dead less than a year now, and I can't believe the intense misery and pain I've been in since my death.

I use to jokingly say I was going to go to Hell and party with my friends.

Well there are some of my friends down here, but let me tell you, there is no partying.

We are all in torment and if we could just have a drop of water, that would help.

I had a reputation for being a good guy, one that would help anybody.

I didn't believe you when you told me that being good and good works would not get me to Heaven.

I did not believe that God really meant that verse that says the wages of (one) sin is death (Hell), but the gift of God is eternal life (Heaven) through Jesus Christ Our Lord.

Apparently, I'm not the only one who didn't accept that free gift as there are a lot of religious church people down here.

There are even some preachers, deacons, and Sunday school teachers here. And I heard that Ole Joe who was always in trouble did accept that free gift of salvation, and he must have gone to Heaven, "cause he is not down here.

There are people who have been here for thousands of years and they say we will never get out, except for the great white throne judgment when we are all judged for our works and then we will go into the bottomless pit where we will remain for all eternity.

There is no getting out of this pain and suffering just because I refused to accept that free gift of salvation.

I can't believe I was such a fool to reject that free gift, and now I'm in Hell paying for my own sins.

Sincerely,

The Fool
