La Harpe City Council Meets

The La Harpe City Council met for their regular meeting July 12, 2010 at 7:01 pm.

Motions were approved to allow the FS plant to hook on to city water; to purchase 4 portable police radios for $1896.00; to allow the Illini West Bass Fishing Champion signs; to purchase a variable speed motor for the water plant for $1310.00; to mow a property for foreclosure on A Street and to pass the resolution for the Summerfest parade on Saturday, August 14th, at 10:30 am.

There was discussion about the city offering to remove and dispose of the sidewalk at the school at no charge, but a representative from the school declined, and said they would open it up for bids.

The 1st reading of the garbage Ordinance was read.

The council went into Executive session at 8:10 pm. and returned at 8:56 pm.

Aldermen present were: Todd Irish, Brian Lovell, Marcia Stiller, Michael Bennett, Vicki Burford, Darrell Kraft, Treasurer-Marcia Neff, City Clerk-Lucretia McPeak, and Mayor-Kenneth Brown.

Also present were: Justin Livingston, Willo Carpenter, Daniel Carpenter, Nate Todd, Wayne Humphrey, Roger Hughes, Dan Gillett, Richard Rasmussen, Tim Graves and Doug Endres.

Motions were made and carried to approve and accept the June minutes, and to approve and accept the treasurer's report, and to pay all bills.

Regular meeting adjourned at 8:57 pm.

The next scheduled regular council meeting will be July 26, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.
