Meet your neighbor Athena Brooks who lives with husband, Aaron, and two sons in Marietta.
Eathan is seven, Tanner is almost four and they are expecting a baby in July.
She was raised in Havana, and then attended Spoon River College to obtain her Associate Degree.
"I liked it there because of the small home town feel," states Athena.
During those two years she played volleyball and was awarded both athletic and art scholarships.
After Junior College she moved to Western Illinois University and graduated in 2001 with honors of Cum Laude and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Instructional Technology and Telecommunications. That same year she started working in the health care field.
Through the years her positions have changed but she has always had a true passion for the field she has chosen. My mom always told me that if you enjoy what you do every day you never really have to go to work, Athena said.
She is now the Administrator of La Harpe Davier Health Care Center owned by Petersen Health Care, a leader in health care services for the state of Illinois.
Once again she has found herself comfortable in a small town. In the past year she has been impressed and humbled by the La Harpe communities support and dedication to the local nursing home.
"Every week I am amazed by the amount of involvement we see from families, guests and our loving volunteers.
My work, husband, two boys, two dogs and a cat keeps me very busy but in my free time I enjoy camping with my family, fishing and playing cards. I look forward to meeting even more of the community and I personally invite them to come to La Harpe Davier for a visit," states Athena.
