The Hancock-Henderson Quill, Inc.
The Illini West Board of Education and Superintendent Mike Mauzy have reached an agreement whereby Mr. Mauzy will be stepping down as the Superintendent for the Illini West High School District at the end of the current 2009-2010 school year.
Mr. Mauzy would like to explore other options and growth opportunities for the next school year, and the Board of Education has agreed to look in a new direction for the district's administrative leadership for the next school year and beyond.
Accordingly, the Illini West Board of Education has taken action to accept a separation agreement with Mr. Mauzy such that his contract will not extend past the conclusion of the current 2009-2010 school year.
Mr. Mauzy has assisted the Illini West High School District in extraordinary fashion in the past three-plus years that he has worked for the district and the board. He has guided the district through the difficult and demanding journey that the district faced as it came into existence in July 2007.
The issues that we have addressed with Mr. Mauzy's assistance and direction have been challenging and exceedingly numerous. We now have a very successful and thriving High School, which is recognized for student excellence in academics, athletics, and fine arts.
Mr. Mauzy will leave our school district in excellent financial shape, in large part due to his efforts and attention during these extremely challenging economic times.
With Mr. Mauzy's impending departure, the Illini West Board of Education will begin the search process for a new superintendent, which they formally authorized at tonight's Board meeting.
Please contact Board President Tracey Anders with any questions regarding this matter.
