Students of the Month for January, Maria Gambrell and Michael Lafferty, were honored at the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Education of Illini West HSD #307 held Wednesday, February 10.
Pre-registration of students for the 2010-2011 school year, including incoming Freshmen, is near completion.
Illini West will be hosting "The Magic of Life", a presentation by Michael Gershe regarding alcohol awareness, on March 22. Southeastern High School has been invited to come to the presentation.
Looking to the upcoming spring sports season, the following coaching additions were made: Don Winters was approved as a volunteer Track coach; John Hughs and Wyatt Young were approved as volunteer Baseball coaches; and approval was given to secure an Assistant Boys Track Coach for the 2010 season.
A Separation Agreement was entered into between the District and Superintendent Mike Mauzy whereby Mr. Mauzy will be stepping down as the Superintendent for Illini West High School District at the end of the current school year. With Mr. Mauzy's impending departure, the Illini West Board of Education will begin the search process for a new superintendent.
