Hey Everyone!
February? Already? One month later, and I am still having trouble typing 2010 on papers. A lot has happened in the past five months, especially this last one.
Its amazing to look back and see how far I have come. Lets see here, we went from traveling through airports alone for two days, starting school, making friends to riding buses on my own, receiving mid-terms, and actually keeping those friends.
Being here has opened the door to unheard of activities such as 'cross country skiing.' I have a new found love for skiing, and this sport has taken over my life. "Its fun and educational."(Jingle all the way)
I not only get to see beautiful scenery, I also get to learn about all the new muscles in my body I never knew I had.
School has been going better and better as I am able to understand way more now than my first day I stepped foot on this land.
I will be giving my first 15 minute speech in front of my Norwegian class in about one week over a book that I have read (in norwegian).
I know I am able to speak, but feel that I still say everything wrong, which I now realize has been holding me back a bit. I enjoy practicing with my classmates. They love to hear me speak and ask me questions only answering back when I speak to them in Norwegian.
So yes, although many know English, they are now starting to cut me off completely of my mother language. At times it can be a bit annoying, but hindsight is 20/20 and I know they are only trying to help. My best friends are those who believe in me.
Before winter completely disappears and spring starts to show her colors, I have many things to achieve.
I have a one week ski trip with other Rotary kids beginning this weekend, then our local Catholic church has asked me on a ski trip with them as well, and then I am fortunate to be able to go to Holmenkolen which is a ski jump in the World Cup.
At 1:26 of the following clip you will see Anders Jacobsen, one of Norways best jumpers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfgQ1CA_2oE
It isn't the same jump, but the same concept. So, I have many many things to look forward to. If you have Internet, I hope you will check this out.
I love reading news from home, anything from the local farm updates, to friends achievements. Drop me a line!
