Meet your neighbor Larry Johnson a well known face around town especially, if you make any trips into Ayerco.
Larry was born in Fellsburg, Kansas to Lawrence and Lorinda Johnson and was raised in Hickok, Kansas.
He graduated high school from Ulysses Grant High in 1952. Larry met his wife, Rose, in Seneca, while driving a truck. They were married August 25, 1966.
Larry and Rose moved to West Burlington Iowa in January 1973. He began driving a truck for J.I.Case until 1987.
That following July of 1988, Larry and his family moved to Terre Haute.
His wife, Rose, opened up a hair salon in their home and named it Country Clip n Curl. It is still serving the surrounding communities.
Larry was unable to work from 1987 to 1995 due to some health issues. He returned to driving a semi in 1996 for Barr/Nunn and retired in 1999 due to more health problems.
Larry and Rose have two sons, Bill, born in 1969 and Jeff, in 1973.
Bill lives in Lomax with his wife Lisa and their two daughters, Lynette and Ava.
Jeff lives in Danville, Iowa with his wife Stacy and their two daughters, Samantha and Sydney.
Larry is an active member of the La Harpe Lions Club and the La Harpe Masonic Lodge and he is proud to say he served from 1990 to 2005 as a La Harpe school board member.
He enjoyed fishing before his health issues, but now looks forward in spending time with his family and going to Ayerco to catch up on the news with friends in the La Harpe community.
