Illini West Selects New Superintendent

At a special board meeting of the Illini West High School District #307 April 6, Mrs. Kim Schilson, was employed as the new Superintendent of Illini West High School and will begin her duties at Carthage on July 1st.

She will replace superintendent Mike Mauzy Jr., who is retiring May 30.

Mrs. Schilson received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees, as well as her Education Specialty Certification from Western Illinois University in Macomb.

She began her teaching career as a middle school/high school teacher with the Plymouth School District then taught at Cardinal Stritch and the Hamilton School District.

Her administrative career began at Warsaw where she served as the Elementary Principal before assuming the position of Superintendent, a position she has held for the past ten years.

Chosen from a field of 22 applicants, Mrs. Schilson signed a three-year contract with an annual salary of $99,600 with benefits, a total compensation package of $117,810.

Mrs. Schilson resides in Basco, with her family.

Illini West Board members said they look forward to working with Mrs. Schilson to continue to provide an excellent educational experience for the students of Illini West High School District.
