Playing It Safe

When you are a mother and grandmother, I guess it is pretty easy to relate to the animal kingdom of how mothers protect their young ones. I can see myself as a typical mother hen. I want to protect my children, my grandchildren and other children of our community from any unknown dangers in the world. It's our God given jobs as adults.

That is why I hope adults will think it through when wanting to allow alcohol on our fairgrounds, something that has always been a family gathering place. It's a place, for the most part, you want to take your family and your children and you feel they are safe.

Sometimes, we worry about our children and young girls coming-of-age, and we know alcohol lessens a person's good judgment. If coolers and alcohol are making its way illegally on fairground property, then that is what needs to be addressed. I hope other adults will join in keeping the fairgrounds a place 4-H can thrive and families can too.
