La Harpe City Council

Mayor Ken Brown called the La Harpe City Council to order in regular session Monday, October 26, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the City Hall. All Aldermen were present which includes: Todd Irish, Brian Lovell, Marcia Stiller, Mike Bennett, Vicki Burford, and Darrell Kraft, along with City Clerk Lucretia McPeak, Dean Spangler, Dan Gillett, and Doug Endress.

The council approved the renewal of Casey's liquor license and also approved the purchase of four new bullet proof police vests. in order to keep in compliance with state safety requirements.

An updated recycling letter has been posted on the bulletin board outside City Hall for anyone interested.

The Council has taken several complaints about a property on 6th street that needs to be cleaned up and council members are working with the owner to see that improvements are made.

It was announced that the Patriot Guard will be at the Annex in La Harpe at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 28th where a check will be presented to them from the July bike ride, and auction fundraiser held in honor of those who died serving their country including: Marine Cpl. Evan James (March 24, 2003,) and Marine Cpl. Joshua Palmer (Nov. 8, 2004). The council and the public is invited to this presentation.

The Bio-Diesel plant which is looking to build in La Harpe is still having regular meetings and have submitted a Fesibility Study Grant and are waiting the outcome.

The minutes and the bills were approved before the 7:53 p.m. call to adjourn.

The next regular La Harpe City Council meeting will be Monday, November 9th at 7:00 p.m. at La Harpe City Hall.
