by: Shirley Linder, Quill Editor

The Village of Stronghurst trustees voted, at their regular board meeting held on March 2, 2009, to raise the garbage pick up fee by $2.00 per month, effective immediately.

Tony Anderson reminded everyone that there is a limit on pick up of 6 bags or 6 cans for each household.

A city wide garage sale is being planned for some time in June.

Chris Cook reported Christmas lights, the wreaths and banner like the village now has, is on sale at 40% off. The trustees voted to pay half ($2,000) to purchase some new wreaths and banners to replace the ones now being used.

Cook also reported the Stronghurst Booster Club will landscape three sides of the new porta potty in the park.

Tom Street of Maguire Iron, Inc. spoke to the board regarding a water tower contract. The item was tabled until later.

Present were: President Eric Chockley, Trustees, Lawrence Neff, Angela Myers, Tony Griepentrog, Chris Cook, Mike Nelson, (David Vancil, absent); Clerk Lori Russell; Treasurer, Lou Ann Nortrup; Employee, Tony Anderson; Guests, Lori Taylor, Roger Cook, and Tom Street.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, April 6, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. at the Village Hall.
