Meet Your Neighbor

Meet your neighbor Cindy Wear. She is the daughter of Gene and Mary Jo Scanlan.

She was raised on a farm outside of Burnside, with her two siblings Toni and Tami.

She graduated from Carthage High School in 1981 and from Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, IA in 1985 and from Northeast Missouri State (now Truman State) in Kirksville, MO in 1986.

Wear is now married to her husband, Charlie, and they have a stepson, Craig and his wife Anita, Carlie (20), Cody (18) and Carter (16).

She is currently a Behavior Intervention Consultant, she consults principals, teachers and families to help students be more successful in the classroom. She has had her current job for seventeen years.

She previously was a lifeguard at the La Harpe Pool during the summers she was in college and was a counselor at the Hancock County Mental Health Center in Carthage.

She is a member and elder at Fountain Green Presbyterian Church and is serving her second term on the La Harpe School Board.

Wear enjoys reading, being outside, traveling with her family, attending her kids' activities, and motorcycling with her husband and friends.

Her family has travelled to India for a wedding reception for her stepson and his wife and also her daughters and her received the opportunity to travel to Europe twice. Wear says, " those are memories I will always treasure."
