Jessica McGraw who lives in Stronghurst and is working part-time at Riverland FS.
Her family just recently demolished their old home, and dug a basement for their new home. It is a Design Home that was ordered in Burlington, Iowa, and built in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin, she said.
During the summer Jessica cleans carpets and apartments for Advanced Cleaning in Boone, Iowa.
She was born in Burlington, Iowa, and raised in Stronghurst.
Jessica is presently a junior at West Central High School.
Her parents are Chris and Michelle McGraw. Her parents are both employed at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa. Chris is an engineer and Michelle a secretary.
A brother, Nathan, is a college student at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa.
For enjoyment Jessica works on Sprint cars, and she likes to travel, likes to camp, and she loves "hanging out" and going to movies with her friends.
She also enjoys her 8 Hermit crabs which she loves to talk about. The oldest one, she says is 6 years old. They thrive in 75 to 80 degree temperatures and like 70 to 80% humidity.
The crabs bedding is coconut shavings, which are small pieces, and when exposed to water, swell in size. They eat flaky crab food, but also eat fruit such as oranges, apples and frozen corn that has been cooked.
Jessica makes sure that each day the crabs, along with the coconut bedding, are sprayed with water.
