Coach Jay Blender Honored

West Central HEAT coach Jay Blender was recognized Thursday evening for having achieved the milestone of 300 wins in his career.

The winning game came at West Central on Monday, December 1, 2008, when the West Central HEAT's girls basketball team (rated #1 in the state in Class 1A at the time) defeated West Hancock (rated #1 at the time in Class 2A.)

This was Coach Blender's 300th win as a high school basketball coach.

Mr. Blender began coaching high school basketball in 1981 and has spent his entire career coaching the youth of Henderson County. Over the years he has coached 17 boys teams and 4 girls teams.

West Central District Superintendent Ralph Grimm presented a plaque and a commemorative basketball to Jay Blender for this career achievement.
