The La Harpe School Board of Education held a special meeting on July 14, 2009 relocated from the district library to the Central Office.
Board members in attendance were President Cindy Wear, Vice Pres. Dan Horton, Mark Irish, Rex Huston, Pam Campbell, Deanna Stambaugh, and Darren Spangler. Supt. Jo Campbell was also present.
The board changed the approval of David Anderson's coaching position from assistant coach to head coach of junior high boys' baseball, voted to hire Jeff McDowell as JH boy's baseball assistant coach, and A.J. Huston as 5/6 boys' basketball assistant coach for the school year 2009-10.
The La Harpe School Board held a regular meeting Tuesday night, July 21st in the school district library.
Board members in attendance were Board President Cindy Wear, Mark Irish, Rex Huston, Pam Campbell, Deanna Stambaugh, and Darren Spangler. Also present were Supt. Jo Campbell, Prin. Lila McKeown, Jeanne Clayton and Melvin Roth.
Melvin Roth, Illini West's Agriculture teacher presented the board with a report of activities for the IWHS FFA Chapter including some recent changes and additional classes being offered in the coming school year.
Principal McKeown reported the highlights of a summer conference she had attended and a recent teaching staff meeting. She also lead the board members on a walking tour of the buildings and the many updates that have been made in order to accommodate the Kindergarten through 8th graders in the main building on D Street.
Supt. Campbell is continuing to communicate with state government offices to ensure that La Harpe District is in position should state funding become available for school building construction.
The board approved the district's internet use and wellness policies and the student and faculty handbooks, appointed Supt. Campbell as authorized IMRF agent, and scheduled the Fiscal Year 2010 Budget Hearing for 7:30 p.m. on September 15, 2009.
The board also accepted a copier lease agreement with Watts Copy Systems, Inc., accepted with regrets the resignation submitted by Teresa Brown from the position of teacher aide, added five days to the school secretary position prior to the start of school.
