"I'm falling to my knees again, :"I'm deeper than I've ever been, four walls around me closing in:"
The words run through my mind of songwriter Mike Rayson, Australian singer who was guest at the Terre Haute Church Sunday evening.
His visit to churches in Stronghurst, La Harpe and Terre Haute telling of losing his son in an accident a year and a half ago produced a pain he will carry for ever and resulted in songs where he expresses his anguish and his plea to God.
"It's not the God I serve that causes a child to die," Rayson said. "It's God's will for us to live forever in the Garden. It is evil and sin that causes death."
In Rayson's CD The Cloud, he sings "Captured" :"I'm falling on my knees again:a gentle breath upon the wind and somewhere very deep within, I know I'm not my own,"
I sat in awe of God's perfect timing in bringing Rayson to our area after the death of Brian Hetrick where many of us are asking, "Why?" Rayson said there is a name for one who loses a parent-"Orphan", and for losing a spouse- "Widow or Widower," but there is no word for a parent who loses a child."
In "Footprints," Rayson gives us comfort as he reminds us where our loved ones are going, and that God is waiting as Rayson sings a precious song to his little child:
"Listen closely, Can you hear the sound,
"Of the Father, Calling to you, This is holy ground."
