Meet your neighbor Monica Carpenter, raised in La Harpe the daughter of Larry and Janet McKee.
Monica is a 1986 graduate from La Harpe High School. She is the youngest of six children.
She married Phil Carpenter of Terre Haute June 6, 1987. They have three children, Kylen, 20, in the U.S. Navy serving in Japan, Paige, 17, a senior and Jordan, 15, a Freshman at Illini West, High School in Carthage.
Monica's husband works as a material handler for Southwest Airlines. They have lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, Valparaiso, Indiana, and Mesa, AZ, due to his job.
Monica is the Director of La Harpe Carnegie Library, a job she has held since January 2002.
Her biggest challenge there is preparing for the Summer Reading Program.
She enjoys reading and working on genealogy, and is now working on Family Trivia Night for October. Her hobbies include bowling in a Quincy league each Thursday.
As of this week Monica was elected President of the La Harpe Historical Society.
