The Illini West faculty dedicated the entire teacher in-service day to the implementation of PBIS or Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. The teachers were going to research the dilemma of poor homework completion. The PBIS team was looking at student incentives that may encourage students to turn in assignments and rewards for other positive behaviors.
Mr. Driskell reported on student participation in the Safety Fair, the Leadership Academy and the IWHS Blood Drive. Parents will be notified through the School Reach calling system of the option for students to take shuttles home to Dallas City and La Harpe Elementary following home games, away games and team practices. The Board of Education approved the use of Sci Hickenbottom, Dick Keene and Jerry Logan as volunteer assistant girls' basketball coaches for the 2008-2009 season. Sci Hickenbottom was granted a leave of absence from his paid assistant coaching position.
The next regular board meeting will be November 12 at 7:00 p.m.
