Housewright Contracting, the American Legion Auxiliary and the La Harpe City Council have finished additional upgrade work on the Veterans Memorial in the La Harpe City Park.
Work has included expanding the layout with more cement and more bricks for future names, plus the addition of three new large flag poles for the US Flag of America, the Illinois State flag and the Prisoner Of War flag.
The new upgrade also includes places on each side for the setting of additional flags during special times.
"In the last couple of weeks, the village has received several donations," Mayor Brown said.
"City officials, Veterans and families of service men and women are very appreciative of the generous support that has been given to this important project.
"It shows the honor and respect and deep appreciation the La Harpe people have for the sacrifices their fellow citizens have made for their country. Mayor Brown said that anyone who wants to donate to the project or wants to buy a brick may do so by contacting either him or Dorothy Plank of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Bricks that were already set and engraved earlier, were not altered or moved during the upgrading process, and will remain where they are, Mayor Brown said.
