Parents Say: Unfair?

Dear Editor,

Our daughter Danielle Waterman-Clark was chosen to be the 2007 Henderson County fair queen.

She fulfilled her duties throughout the fair above and beyond what was called for.

Danielle was married in late December. She was told by the director of the pageant that this would not be a problem.

The rules state the contestants must be single to enter the pageant, nothing about remaining single for the entire term. The pageant recently changed directors.

The new director has decided to interpret the rules a different way and is trying to force Danielle to give up her crown. This has not been a problem with anyone until now, so why is it a problem now with only four months left in her reign?

We don't see any reason for this and don't feel it's right. What do the people of Henderson County think? Let the fair board know.
