West Central Special Meeting

At the Thursday, June 5, 2008 special meeting of the West Central Community Unit School District #235 Board of Education the following items took place:

President Brent called the board meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. All board members except Clifton were in attendance at roll call.

It was the consensus of the board that a closed session was not necessary; therefore, no closed session was held.

The board heard a report from Superintendent Grimm concerning the responses to the request for proposals for the district's property/casualty, liability, and workman's compensation insurance package. The board reviewed a summary of the bids that were received as well as discussed some of the component parts of the bid package. Following that discussion the board approved the low bid from Indiana Insurance submitted by the Doran Insurance Agency of Stronghurst for the district's property/casualty, liability and workman's compensation insurance package in the amount of $94,533. In addition the board determined that the student accident insurance program will be made available to district parents on a voluntary basis. This means, the board will not provide blanket coverage for all students rather parents will buy this coverage on an "as needed" basis.

The board approved a request to air condition the north campus band room. This concept was introduced to the board at the May 21st regular meeting. The equipment and supplies needed to install this air conditioning will be paid for by the Band Boosters. District maintenance staff will provide the installation of the equipment.

The board approved the exempt staff salaries for FY09 as presented.

The board approved the following employment recommendations:

The board accepted a resignation from Brad Jackson as high school head girls' basketball coach.

The board was reminded that the June board meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 beginning at 7 p.m. in the elementary cafeteria.

There being no other business to come before the board, the board adjourned the meeting at 6:22 p.m.
