Meet Your Neighbor, John Dowell, born April 8th, 1988 to Steve and Wendy Dowell at Memorial Hospital, Carthage. John is a graduate of the Class of 2006 at La Harpe High School where he was involved in football-two years, FFA-five years, and a member of the La Harpe Four-Leaf Clover 4-H Club-six years. One of his favorite things to do is hunt. He's been an avid outdoorsman since he was very young, a pastime his father passed along to him. "The best thing about being out in the timber hunting or out on a lake fishing is being away from everything. I like it when its quiet and I can think." Aside from hunting and fishing, John likes watching drag racing, attending rodeos to watch professional bull riders try to tame the massive beasts, and also is a diehard Chicago Bears fan. Currently, John is in an apprenticeship for the IUOE (International Union of Operating Engineers) Local #649 out of Peoria and is looking to become a junior operator, then a journeyman operator within the next eight years. In the future, he hopes to be a crane operator on crawler cranes and continue his work on construction sites throughout the Midwest.
