The president and trustees of the Village Of Raritan met in the meeting room of the Raritan Fire House on January 10, 2008, with trustees Blender, Waller, Anders, Powless, Knapp and Magee answering roll call.
Trustee Blender opened with prayer.
Minutes of the last meeting were approved by motion of Powless, second by Anders. Motion carried.
Bills presented were and approved to be paid in the amount of $1,952.07 covering bills presented by Dennis Rankin, Waste Management , Dallas Rural Water, PDC Laboratories, AmerenIP , Phil Anders, Gary Powless, and Carlyn Anders.
A thank you was handed out from Eagle View Community Health Systems.
Ordinance #151 establishing compensation of the president, clerk, treasurer, trustees and collector was approved with a motion made by Waller, second Anders. Roll call vote Blender, Waller, Knapp, Powless, Magee and Anders all ayes.
Motion by Magee, second by Waller to pay the Raritan Fire Department for Christmas lights when the bill is presented. Motion carried.
Motion by Powless, second by Knapp to give Dick Hopson a $50.00 gift certificate from Barnstormer. Motion carried.
Motion by Powless, second by Magee to buy a fiberglass extension ladder. Motion carried. Knapp will purchase the ladder.
A discussion was held about the fire department wanting to buy a generator in case of an emergency for the fire department and village.
The next regular meeting night will be the second Thursday in February at the Raritan Fire House at 7 p.m. Meetings are open to the public.
