Meet your neighbor Becky Humphrey. Becky is the daughter of George and Doris Renard and comes from a family of five siblings.
She was born in Keokuk, Iowa on April 9, attended Keokuk grade school and graduated from Keokuk High School. She attended Southeastern College for 2 years then graduated from the University of Iowa, with a degree in Elementary Education.
Following college she moved north and taught in Wisconsin seven years. She moved back to Farmington Iowa and opened an Antique Store. She later met her future husband Wayne Humphrey and they were married on July 19, 1975 and moved to La Harpe.
Becky and Wayne have three daughters and are very proud grandparents to six grandchildren. Rachel and son-in-law, Mark Bond, from Joplin, Missouri have three children, Ruthy, Moriah and Javan Wayne. Meredith and son-in-law, Mike Proctor, from Trafalgar, Indiana have three daughters, Hannah, Allison and Carrie. Sarah and son-in-law John Amschler reside in Jackson, Missouri.
Becky worked as the La Harpe City Clerk for 15 years and for the last 19 years has been the care taker of the La Harpe Township Cemetery.
She's an active member of the Burnside Christian Church.
Becky recalls a family vacation they took when the girls were in Junior High as a great time. They traveled to San Francisco, CA by bus to see family. The trip was great, they got to see the Red Woods, Disney Land, Sea World and the Grand Canyon. Taking the bus was a great experience and they got to meet people from all nationalities and see a lot of country side.
The greatest thing is their grandchildren she says "It is wonderful having grandchildren". Becky has several hobbies she enjoys reading, sewing, and music and spending time with family.
