Meet your neighbor Melissa Sturlic, born in Columbia, MO and raised in Crystal Lake. She grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. Her parents are Richard and Mary Ellen Sexton.
Growing up her father was a vet in a private practice and her mother was an administrative assistant for the public library.
She graduated from Crystal Lake Central High School in 1989 and went on to graduate from college at WIU with her bachelor's degree in Communication Arts and Sciences in 1992. She also acquired her master's degree in Education.
Sturlic currently teaches at Illini West High School as the English teacher. She teaches Sophomore English and also coaches speech. She previously taught at La Harpe Jr. /Sr. High for ten years. She has been at Illini West for two years.
She and her husband, Renato, have one daughter, Renata who is 8 and they are expecting another child.
Her hobbies are reading, watching movies, and home improvement projects. She attends The Crossing Church in Macomb and is involved in Children's Tech ministries.
She loves her job and said, "I have really enjoyed working with the students and families from the La Harpe, Dallas City, and Carthage communities."
