Meet Your Neighbor Jennifer Ewing. Jennifer lives in Monmouth and travels each day to Stronghurst to Security Savings and Loan where she is Branch Manager and Loan Officer.
She started at Security in Monmouth in 2001 as Savings Counselor and Customer Service Representative and in March of 2002 transferred to her new position in Stronghurst. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia and moved when she was young to the Monmouth area.
Jennifer graduated from Warren High School in 1991 and from Western Illinois University in December of 2000 with a degree in Public Relations and Human Resource Management.
Her parents, Carl and Harriett Ewing, reside outside of Monmouth. They owned and operated Ewing Door Sales and Service for 26 years, in Peoria, before retiring. Jennifer developed her love of people by working summers in the family business.
She has an older sister, Carla, who is administrator of the Aledo Nursing Home, sister, Kelli, who is a 5th grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary in Monmouth, and a twin brother Jeff who is married to Lynn. Jeff and Lynn live in New Windsor with their two children Logan, (7) and Rileigh (4). Jennifer's middle name is Leigh, and niece Rileigh, was named after her. Jeff is a high school P.E. and Driver's Education teacher and Lynn is a special education teacher at Alwood.
Jennifer loves to learn more about the Amish people and their community. In her research she has traveled to Colona and Amana, Iowa, Ohio and Pennsylvania. She enjoys reading about the Amish people with Beverly Lewis and Wanda Brunsetter being her favorite authors.
On special occasions she and her sisters take her niece and nephew on "Aunt Trips", to special places such as Fun City to make unforgettable memories.
She loves reading and especially cooking. She spends time with her mom learning her mom's favorite recipes and cooking together, and says, "My mom is a great cook".
On her parents' 50th wedding anniversary the family vacationed out west at Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone and toured the west by auto.
When Jennifer turned 30, and her sister turned 40, they went on a Disney cruise to the Grand Cayman Islands, Key West, Cozumel, and Cast Away Keys, which is a private Disney owned island.
An unforgettable vacation and what a way to spend a birthday.
