Meet Your Neighbors

by Diane Spilker, The Quill Staff

Meet your neighbor, Charles Bunch.

Charles Bunch was born September 13, 1930 to Robert and Mildred Bunch in Blandinsville.

He graduated from Good Hope High School. He later met and married Jean. They were happily married for 54 years and had four children: Ken, John, Ray and Donna. They also have 11 grandkids.

He spent 10 years in France during the Korean War in the Army before returning home, where he was an active farmer, tilling the soil for corn and beans while raising cows and calves until the age of 60+ when he moved into town. He and his wife attended First Christian Church in Blandinsville.

Charles moved into the La Harpe Davier Care CenterÊon March 28th due to health reasons; however, Jean still resides in Blandinsville.

Before moving into the LDCC facility, he enjoyed traveling and attending his grandchildren's school functions. He enjoys attending the weekly Bible Study, when he feels up to it and likes his quiet time in his room.

His most memorable childhood memory was "getting gas for $1 or less, sometimes as cheap as $0.89 a gallon".
