A Time For Reflection:

by Dessa Rodeffer, Quill Publisher/Owner

29 August 2007

This week has put havoc in a lot of people's lives with the destruction brought about from a thunderstorm accompanied with damaging winds last Thursday.

Many wonder why their lives are disrupted in such a way but most all were very thankful that it wasn't worse.

While working long hours this week finishing up stories and photographs from a busy week, I had gone home, thinking I was getting the flu or some virus. I began to worry if I could get the Quills out this week.

After resting a few hours, I stood up and almost passed out. That is when I said a prayer, "Please God give me the strength and ability to get out another issue of The Quill this week."

I walked out to the kitchen, picked up a devotional laying on the kitchen bar and thought, "Maybe this is the strength I need for today."

I opened it up and decided to read the short paragraph devotional for August 27 by Charles Swindoll.

It said, "We are commanded to stop (literally):rest, relax, let go, and make time for God.

"The scene is one of stillness and quietness, listening and waiting before Him. Such foreign experiences in these busy times! Nevertheless, knowing God deeply and intimately requires such discipline. Silence is indispensable if we hope to add depth to our spiritual life.

"Be Still and Know That I Am God." Psalm 46:10, NIV"

Is God interrupting your life, to call you to Him?
